Job Title: Early Years Practitioner
Location: Southampton, Hampshire
Salary: £12.82 per hour
Start Date: Immediate/ Easter 2025 start
Contract: Full-time (part-time can also be arranged for the right candidate)

About the Role:

As an Early Years Practitioner, you will be entrusted with supporting and nurturing the development of children in a dynamic and inclusive environment. Your role will involve working closely with children aged 0-5, fostering their emotional, social and cognitive development through engaging, stimulating activities tailored to their individual needs. You will be part of a supportive team that values the importance of early childhood education and aims to provide a nurturing, safe and enriching environment for all children in your care.

Early Years Practitioner Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning and delivering engaging learning activities, promoting social, emotional and cognitive development.
  • Help create a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where children feel valued and supported in their growth.
  • Observe and record children’s progress, identifying their individual needs and planning for their next steps in learning.
  • Work closely with other Early Years Practitioners and external professionals to ensure children’s needs are met effectively.
  • Adhere to safeguarding and health and safety protocols, ensuring the well-being of all children in your care.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding children’s progress, providing updates and suggestions for further support at home.

Early Years Practitioner Job Requirements:

  • A relevant qualification in Early Years Education (such as a Level 2 or 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education, NVQ in Early Years, or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working as an Early Years Practitioner is essential, with a solid understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
  • A genuine passion for working with young children and supporting their development.
  • A strong understanding of child protection and safeguarding policies.
  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively with children, colleagues and parents.
  • Ability to organise activities and tasks efficiently while managing the needs of individual children.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
