We invite applications for a Research Fellow in the Catalysis for Chemical Circularity Group at the School of Engineering, University of Surrey. The main focus is on researching polyester-based plastic depolymerisation into monomers via mechanochemistry, contributing to a circular plastic economy. This interdisciplinary project involves collaborations with the University of Birmingham, Imperial College London, Queen's University Belfast, and industry partners in waste management and plastic production. The role offers opportunities for stakeholder engagement, professional development, and networking.
The main project objectives are:
The ideal candidate will hold or be about to receive a PhD in Material Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related fields. They should have a strong background in catalyst design, characterisation, and testing. Experience with mechanochemistry, polymer chemistry, physics, and plastic recycling is highly desirable.
