South Ayrshire Council is offering temporary positions for Gym Attendant and Leisure Attendant as part of their youth employability initiative. Candidates will gain valuable experience in fitness and leisure services while supporting the community.
South Ayrshire Council provides a wide range of employability opportunities for people in South Ayrshire in order to support them in gaining experience, training and employment. This programme is part of the council's youth employability initiative. We are committed to offering career development opportunities for young people within South Ayrshire and to comply with the conditions of funding from skills development Scotland, applicants must fall into the following categories before the start date of 21st July 2025.
The assessment centre and interviews will take place on 10 June 2025at the Citadel in Ayr.

You will be responsible for assisting and supporting members of staff within the gym. You will gain experience delivering inductions to new gym members and when qualified you will be delivering a variety of fitness classes such as spin, evolve & circuits. Cleaning the facility for use and providing excellent customer service are top priorities when employed within the gym area.
You will work towards your NPLQ Lifeguard qualification and be responsible for assisting and supporting members of staff with supervising the pool side. Pool side maintenance, cleaning the facility for use and providing excellent customer service. You will also have the opportunity to work alongside the swim team, providing assistance to swim coaches and working towards your swim teacher's qualification.

This post is considered to be Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) (PVG) Act 2007. Accordingly, the preferred candidate will be required to become a member of the PVG Scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update if already a Scheme member, prior to any formal offer of employment being made.
