Main duties of the job
The ANP/TANP role is a key part of the TYA Team. This post is aimed at developing new ways of working for senior cancer nurses as an ANP or TANP within the Teenage Cancer Trust inpatient and day unit.
With mentor support, the ANP/ TANP will integrate into the existing oncology team to carry out their extended roles, which will include routine management of the TYA oncology patient, including practical procedures and the admission of TYA patients.
Using advanced clinical decision-making and assessment skills, prompt treatment plans or referrals will be initiated to effectively manage acute and chronic cancer-related complications and/or toxicities from systemic anti-cancer treatments and/or radiotherapy; fundamentally working as an autonomous and advanced practitioner. They will act as a highly specialised role model and leader for all members of staff. The post holder will be involved in the further development of the TYA service within the Trust in line with the TYA service specifications.

At The Royal Marsden, we have an immune-compromised patient population who we must protect as much as we can against the flu virus. Each year, seasonal flu affects thousands of people in the UK. Occurring mainly in winter, it is an infectious respiratory disease capable of producing symptoms ranging from those similar to a common cold to very severe or even fatal disease.
The wellbeing of our staff and patients is of the utmost importance to us, and it is expected that all patient-facing staff have an annual flu vaccination, provided free of charge by the Trust.
