An opportunity has arisen for a senior Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist to join our Older Persons Inpatient Therapy team. As the successful post holder, you will be encouraged and supported to develop extended skills and practice in frailty with our highly regarded, innovative and motivated Older Persons Service (OPS) Therapy team.
Our innovative post provides opportunities to work as part of the hospital therapy team covering the admission avoidance areas:
- Emergency Department (ED)
- Same Day Emergency Care Unit (SDEC)
- Older Persons Assessment Unit (OPAU) - short stay ward
Base Location: Royal Bournemouth Hospital Interview Date: TBCMain duties of the jobExpectations of the post holder would include working holistically across professional boundaries, service development, supporting and supervising junior staff, deputising for admission avoidance clinical leads and opportunities to work alongside a range of experienced professionals both within the hospital and community.

To be successful in securing this post, you will have:
- At least 2 years experience working as an Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist covering core rotations, including experience working in an acute hospital setting
- To have a interest in supporting frail and older patients to avoid admission to hospital
- Physiotherapists: experience working on an on-call respiratory rota as participation is expected in this role
- Willing to participate in 7 day working on a rota basis
- Ability to drive, hold a clean drivers licence and access to a car for work purposes

Person SpecificationEssentialEssential - HCPC registration applicable to role
EssentialEssential - BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy Degree or Occupational Therapy degree
- HCPC Registration
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- 2 years' experience
- NHS Experience in an acute physical setting
- Working with older people
- Band 5 therapy experience covering the following core areas: oOlder Persons oNeurology oRespiratory (physio only) oMusculoskeletal oOrthopaedics
- Ability to recognise a deteriorating patient and on call experience (PT)
- Evidence of working in admission avoidance services
Desirable - Member of Chartered Society of Physiotherapy or Royal College of Occupational Therapists. Member of CSP or RCOT special interest group
- Postgraduate training in OPS related topics
- Previous experience of the supervision of junior staff and students
- Ability to complete a holistic assessment which may include some physiotherapy, occupational therapy and nursing skills.
