Job summary

Our client, a leading organisation within the Defence and Security sector, is seeking a Principal Engineer - Systems Engineering to join their team on a permanent basis.

Key skills required for this role

Important

Strong systems engineering experience and knowledge of naval combat systems.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the Dreadnought programme, working across the Combat System at a crucial point in its development. You will join a team of approximately 16 engineers, reporting to the Requirements Integration Test and Acceptance (RITA) Engineering Manager, supporting both the Requirements and Acceptance (R&A) and the Integration and Test (I&T) Teams. A detailed understanding of requirements, qualification, and acceptance at the Integrated Combat System level is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead on the Qualification of the Dreadnought Combat System.
• Develop and maintain the System Qualification Plan and guide Combat System Teams in developing their Sub System Qualification Plans.
• Provide Subject Matter Expertise for Combat System Integration planning, including design proving requirements, Test Specification development, Test Procedure review, and risk mitigation.
• Coordinate with Whole Boat Test & Commissioning for Test Specification development for platform trials at the Combat System level and guide Combat System Teams.

Job Requirements:

• Extensive Maritime Combat System experience, with understanding of Requirements, Qualification, Integration, and Acceptance at the Integrated Combat System level.
• Experience in Verification and Validation phases of the lifecycle.
• Strong theoretical knowledge of System Engineering principles and practical application experience.
• Proficiency with IBM DOORS Requirements Management Tool.
• Knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer or working towards it.
• Experience with Jira Toolset.
• Relocation support available for all Submarines roles, subject to eligibility.
