Qualifications

  • Degree in Control or Electrical/Electronic Engineering is essential.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it is preferred.
  • Strong experience in EC&I design and project delivery.

Their EC&I team plays a leading role in helping the UK achieve their 2050 Net Zero targets, ensuring a mix of secure and sustainable energies can meet the industry and lifestyle demands of today and the future.
Projects that vary greatly in size, scope, and scale. So, you'll be creating the right safe and resilient systems across nuclear power, renewables, decarbonisation development, new builds and energy efficiency.
Their work will bring you together with both UK and international designers, on projects that range from individual buildings to city size solutions and approaches.

Your new role

Our client is looking to appoint a Principal EC&I Engineer within their Net Zero Energy Business. In this role, you will assume a leading role on one of their main technical capabilities delivering right-first-time solutions for the most challenging problems in the Net Zero industry.
You will possess the flexibility to work on several small projects at a time, or overseeing several C&I engineers to deliver a multi-discipline project.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Executing and steering technical delivery of EC&I projects
  • Collaborating with other disciplines on design projects
  • Owning technical responsibility for project quality, design standards and delivery processes.
  • Managing client relationships
  • Providing quality technical advice to customers and internal teams
  • Representing the company as a SME at various client meetings.
  • Overseeing and coaching junior engineers
What you'll need to succeed
  • Degree in Control, or Electrical/Electronic Engineering or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineer or working towards CEng status
  • Working experience of a wide variety of national and international standards
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Client-focused approach
  • Experience at various stages of EC&I design, from concept studies, front end engineering design (FEED) to detailed design, with a proven record of delivery
  • Strong awareness of the commercial aspects to project delivery
  • Experience developing typical EC&I deliverables
  • Ability to manage performance and motivate individuals, effectively delegate tasks and quality check the technical drawings and documentation of others
  • Specification and selection of process instrumentation
  • Development of Operational Technology systems architectures, control philosophies, system specifications and associated schedules
  • Functional Safety/ Cyber Security / Alarm Management
  • Hazardous Area Protection Concepts and DSEAR / Fire and Gas Detection Systems
