We have an exciting opportunity for a Legal Counsel within our Treasury & Structured Finance Legal team, focusing on derivatives and securities finance businesses.

You’ll be involved in drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and delivering legal documentation for Santander UK’s derivatives and securities finance businesses.

The difference you’ll make:

1. Identifying and managing legal risk related to the activities supported by the Treasury & Structured Finance Legal team
2. Facilitating development and execution of business activities, including solutions to achieve objectives or address legal issues
3. Working with deal and template documentation, legal opinions, trading infrastructure agreements, and implementing regulatory changes
4. Analyzing and communicating legal and regulatory developments, reflecting them in documentation and transactions
5. Liaising with other teams in Legal and Finance, including Tax, Risk, Compliance, and Internal Audit
6. Supporting wider team activities to ensure effective support during changing priorities or peak workloads

What you’ll bring:

Essential requirements:

1. Understanding of derivatives, securities lending/repos, trading infrastructure, and related regulations
2. Experience with secured lending, facility agreements, intercreditor agreements, and derivative/hedging agreements
3. Experience in banking or securitization, with interest in derivatives
4. Good knowledge of UK financial services regulatory framework and industry trends

Preferred skills:

1. Strong numeracy skills, proficient in Excel and PowerPoint
2. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
3. Reputable, pragmatic, and enthusiastic approach
4. Excellent time management skills

This permanent role is based in London, Triton Square. We support flexible working arrangements with a hybrid pattern, requiring attendance at least days per month.
