Job description

Social network you want to login/join with:

Do you have a knack for
cleanliness? Are you an organised person who enjoys working in the kitchen? Do
you enjoy island views, exploring the dunes, and Fat Biking after work? If so,
we want you!

Join us and be a part of a team that
values connection, flexibility, variety, challenge and making a positive impact
on people's lives. We're all about making a meaningful impact on our guest’s
holiday. Our three core values - We Care, We Notice, We Change – show what it
means to work for a hotel which goes above and beyond for our team and guests.

The Role:
At Another Place, The Machrie, the kitchen is not just a place of work, but a
vibrant and enjoyable environment where teamwork thrives. As a kitchen porter,
you'll be an integral part of this dynamic team.

With your dedication and
attention to detail, you'll help maintain a clean and organised kitchen,
transforming it into a hub of creativity and culinary joy. From washing and
sanitising dishes to keeping the kitchen tidy, your contributions will ensure a
smooth operation that everyone can take pride in.

But it's not all about cleaning
and organization. As a team player, you'll assist the chefs with ingredient
preparation, handle deliveries with a smile, and support various kitchen tasks.
Your enthusiasm and willingness to go the extra mile will enhance teamwork and
create an even more enjoyable work environment.

Joining our team means being part
of a community that values excellence, innovation, and kindness in everything
we do. Our commitment to our staff is reflected in our exceptional working
environment - one that promotes work-life balance, professional development,
and plenty of opportunities for growth.

What your days could look
like:

  1. Ensure that at all times the cleaning, as
required by the Executive Chef and Head Chef, of all kitchen equipment,
utensils, floor and working surfaces in the kitchen and adjacent areas, is
    carried out satisfactorily.
  2. Carry out other duties as required by the
Executive Chef, Head Chef and Management.
  3. Maintain a high standard of cleanliness and
personal hygiene to the standard required by the hotel and by law.
  4. Ensure full refuse bags are removed and replaced
promptly, and that full swing bins are removed and replaced immediately,
    clearing any spillages.
  5. The floor area must be cleaned daily or at the
    Chef’s discretion.
  6. Sweep and clean the corridors and passageways
    through the kitchen.
  7. Wash crockery, cutlery and ensure that work
    surfaces are clean and tidy.
  8. Clean all pots in the pot wash area, and maintain cleanliness of the area.
  9. Help with any preparation needed for daily service.
  10. Ensure smooth running of all aspects of the kitchen and
    back of house areas.
  11. Maintain an organised, clean and safe work place,
not only for yourself but also for those around you.
  12. Correctly record all waste in the appropriate
method – no member of staff is to remove any item without first checking
with a supervisor and completing the kitchen wastage book.
  13. Flexible attitude to working hours and variable
    shift patterns.
  14. Interest and passion for the food industry.
  15. Experience in a similar role.
  16. Team player.
  17. Guest service focused.
  18. Responsible.
  19. Care about our team and our environment.

What we can offer in return:

  1. A relaxed, professional place to work in a
beautiful location – Islay ‘the queen’ of the Hebridean archipelago off
    the west coast of Scotland.
  2. Excellent career prospects in an ever-expanding
    organisation.
  3. Special rates for you and your friends & family
to stay at Another Place Hotels and Watergate Bay Hotel.
  4. Discounts for you and your friends & family to
    eat at our restaurants.
  5. Team social events throughout the year.
  6. Team assistance scheme – a dedicated helpline for
support & advice on topics from mental health through to managing your
    finances.

From discounted stays to training
and development opportunities, we're all about helping our team achieve their
personal and professional goals. Located above the dunes of a seven-mile beach
on the Scottish island of Islay, you'll never be short on inspiration. Working
at Another Place isn't just a job - it's a transformative career opportunity.
