Job Description

Are you an experienced Mechanical Craftsperson with expertise in maintaining overhead cranes? Do you have the skills and drive to enhance crane maintenance and performance? Are you based in or around Shotton (CH5)?

We have a permanent Mechanical Craft - Cranes role available within our Crane Maintenance Team. This role is ideal for someone with strong mechanical maintenance skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Role: Mechanical Craft - Cranes

Location: Shotton (CH5)

Rate: £33,477 - £36,651 + Bonus

Contract length: Permanent

Working pattern: Days 8am - 4pm

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the mechanical maintenance, overhaul, and repair of crane equipment, including bay maintenance.
  • Support general production line maintenance during downtime.
  • Maintain Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance in line with IMS procedures and PPE requirements.
  • Carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on Overhead Travelling Cranes.
  • Perform high-quality mechanical repairs within set deadlines based on schematics.
  • Assist in the design and production of crane spare parts.
  • Participate in machinery refurbishment initiatives.
  • Contribute to Continuous Improvement (CI) projects, focusing on safety and operational efficiency.
  • Undertake additional duties in workshops, auxiliary plants, and during downshifts as required.
  • Conduct Zone Safety audits and Risk assessments in alignment with the Safety Sub Plan.

Essential requirements:

  • Proven experience as a mechanical fitter, preferably within the steel or construction industry.
  • NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering ().
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Excellent risk assessment capabilities and confidence to raise safety concerns.
