About the Role

This is a Fixed Term contract for 12 months due to start in September 2025.

Apprenticeship rates for this post are dependent on age. Please see below for the applicable rates:

Level 2 Apprenticeship Rates
Under 18 years £14,874 per annum
18-20 years £19,600 per annum
21+ years £23,555 per annum


We are seeking a customer service apprentice to join our dynamic team in the Animal Care and Land Management department. In this role you will offer a customer focused responsive and quality administrative service whilst ensuring efficient processing of transactions.

This role will be predominantly be based at Temple Newsam but on occasion their might be the requirement to also work at other campuses such as Printworks or the University Centre. Whilst this role doesn't include any practical delivery the department is based in a working farm and historical estate, so the successful candidate should like animals and be comfortable in a land-based real work environment. The department hopes to be in a new building in the near future and this will include a dog grooming salon and reception area. The successful candidate will be responsible for booking dog grooming appointments and checking them in on arrival, so an ideal role for a dog lover!

The School of Animal Care and Land Management offers a wide range of study programmes, apprenticeships and Higher Education (HE). From September we will be delivering courses from entry to level 6. The successful candidate will work with learners from all areas as well as members of the public and external stakeholders.

What You Will Do

  • Support and assist with the effective and efficient running of the quality within the curriculum delivery team
  • Undertake general administrative and clerical tasks
  • Deal effectively and professionally with telephone and face-to-face enquiries
  • Support the quality and performance meetings
  • Booking dog grooming appointments and checking in dogs on arrival
  • Create requisitions for approval and onward submission in accordance with procurement policies and procedures.
  • Support college events including parents evenings, open evenings and awards events.

About You

The successful candidate will:

  • Have experience of using Microsoft office systems
  • Have experience of working in a team environment
  • Have enthusiasms and confidence in establishing internal and external relationships
  • Be highly organised and have the ability to work to demanding deadlines and deliver outcomes in an accurate and timely manner.
