Fabricator / Coach Builder – Road & Car Bodies

The DRVN Automotive Group are exclusively looking for skilled and experienced BIW (Body in White) Fabricators / Coach Builders. The first of several models in our range of road and cars are officially licensed by Ford, making this a unique opportunity to work on an important project in the brand's history.

The Body in White (BIW) Fabricator will be responsible for assembling and fabricating the structural components of vehicle bodies prior to painting and final assembly. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and expertise in various fabrication and coach building techniques to ensure the vehicle body's integrity and quality meet OEM standards. The vehicles we build are all new, not restorations.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and follow company policies related to quality, health, safety, and welfare
  • Fabricate and assemble structural components of vehicle bodies according to drawings, specifications, and quality standards
  • Perform welding techniques such as MIG, TIG, and spot welding to join metal components securely
  • Utilise metal forming equipment (presses, rollers, brakes) to shape sheet metal
  • Assemble fabricated components into the body structure, ensuring proper alignment and finish
  • Develop prototype body build phases, identifying fabrication and jig concerns
  • Inspect components and assemblies to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications
Essential Skills
  • NVQ or equivalent qualification in a relevant automotive technical subject
  • Proven experience as a welder or fabricator/coach builder in manufacturing or automotive environments
  • Proficiency in MIG, TIG, and spot welding, with certification ability
  • Ability to weld 1.2mm - 3mm sheet steel using MIG
  • Experience with spot welding machinery
  • Ability to read engineering drawings and technical specifications
  • Attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work
  • Good communication skills and teamwork ability
  • Physical dexterity for fabrication tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Adherence to safety regulations
  • Must have ID and full rights to work in the UK (sponsorship or work permits not accepted)
Desirable Skills
  • Knowledge of industry standards and regulations (IATF16949, ISO9001, 5S, TPM, KPI)
  • Coded TIG welding qualifications, including welding roll cages
  • Experience in low-volume, high-quality car body production
  • Interest or expertise in classic Ford vehicle design and engineering
