Job Title: Vetting Services Manager

Salary: £48,894.00 - £54,879.00
Job Purpose
Responsible for planning and managing the delivery of vetting services, acting as decision maker for highly complex or contentious cases, and serving as gatekeeper for appeals and revocations. Support the Head of Vetting to ensure services align with the College of Policing Vetting Code of Practice, APP, and local policies.
Main Responsibilities
- Support the Head of Vetting to ensure timely delivery of vetting services in compliance with relevant standards and policies.
- Assist in developing and implementing business plans, demand analysis, and resource allocation to optimize service efficiency and value for money.
- Lead, motivate, and develop vetting staff, promoting workforce wellbeing and high professional standards.
- Set and monitor KPIs for team members, taking corrective actions as needed to meet force objectives.
- Analyze performance data to report on outcomes and inform workforce planning.
- Support the maintenance of ISO9001 accreditation through quality control and audit procedures.
- Provide guidance to senior managers on vetting processes and resolve complex issues.
- Make final decisions on complex vetting cases, including appeals and revocations, coordinating with relevant stakeholders.
- Monitor vetting impact on recruitment and retention, promoting positive actions for under-represented groups.
- Collaborate with Counter Corruption and Professional Standards departments to manage risks.
- Build relationships with other forces and agencies for effective information sharing.
- Participate in regional and national consultations on vetting policies and practices.
- Undertake additional duties as required.
Special Conditions
Regular travel throughout Warwickshire; Casual Car User status.
Person Specification
Knowledge
- Degree level or equivalent experience in vetting, analysis, or financial planning.
- Supervisory qualification or experience (or willingness to obtain within 6 months).
- Knowledge of employment law, the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, Vetting Code of Practice, and Home Office Guidance.
Experience
- Managing teams and resources to meet contractual and SLA requirements.
- Data analysis, customer focus, and results achievement.
- Process improvement in a high-volume environment.
- Risk assessment and management, utilizing models like the National Decision Model.
