Job description

We are seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Paralegal to join the Housing Management Team at a well-established law firm in Exeter. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a dynamic team, handling a varied and engaging caseload while contributing to innovative client solutions.

Role Details:

  • Hours: Full-Time
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Location: Exeter (with flexible/hybrid working options)
  • Salary: Dependent on experience

You’ll play a vital role in a busy housing management team, with responsibilities including:

  • Managing early-stage files and supporting fee earners with cases beyond the first hearing to trial.
  • Handling Court directions, disclosure, evidence gathering, witness statements, and risk assessments.
  • Advising clients on creative, effective solutions for the challenges they face.
  • Answering general queries from clients and conducting legal research.
  • Supporting junior colleagues and contributing to their development.
  • Participating in client outreach activities, including training, writing legal updates, and social media engagement.

We’re seeking a team player who is diligent, proactive, and client-focused. The ideal candidate will:

  • Possess a solid understanding of the CPR and the progression of litigation cases.
  • Have prior experience in file management, ideally running their own caseload.
  • Be degree-level qualified or have equivalent experience in litigation work.
  • Exhibit excellent communication, organisational, and time-management skills.
  • Be willing to work collaboratively and independently, with a positive, can-do attitude.

Working Arrangements:

  • Initially office-based in Exeter to get acquainted with the team, work, and available support.
  • A minimum of 2 office-based days per week is required, with flexibility for hybrid working.
  • The role may also involve attending Court as necessary.
