Commercial Accountant job in a leading manufacturing company

Hays Senior Finance are working with a global manufacturing business in North Wales. This hugely successful company has a large turnover and deep roots in North Wales. They have a large workforce and c10 people in the accounts department. Due to ongoing growth and a recent promotion, the company is looking to recruit an experienced Commercial Accountant with a strong background in manufacturing.

As a Finance Business Partner you will have a strong background in Management Accounting coupled with excellent communication skills, an enquiring mindset and influencing skills. The ideal candidate would be a highly skilled and qualified professional possessing a background in cost and inventory management within a manufacturing setting. You will possess excellent analytical and technical skills, with the ability to communicate financial insights effectively to support operational decision-making. This role requires a proactive individual with strong business acumen, capable of driving improvements in financial processes and systems while maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and integrity in financial reporting.

Key duties will include:

1. Complete monthly close procedures including preparation and analysis of monthly account reconciliations.
2. Preparation, review and analysis of monthly manufacturing cost and variances, including purchase price variances, scrap variances, and cost revaluations.
3. Calculation and monitoring of standard cost rates and overheads to support effective absorption of manufacturing costs.
4. Analysis and reporting of gross margin by product.
5. Identification and evaluation of excess and obsolete inventory.
6. Develop cross-functional relationships and provide business support to key operational functions via reporting, planning and analysis.
7. Overall Fixed Asset Management - Capitalisation, Work in Progress, Depreciation.
8. Forecast, ROI and payback calculations of Capital Investments.
9. Produce the manufacturing cost and other Cost of Goods forecasts.
10. Prepare requested schedules in support of the internal and external audit process and requirements.
