Our Healthcare Assistants play a vital role in providing excellent care to our patients and are often their first point of contact. We believe that excellent patient care involves not only skills and knowledge but also softer skills that help patients feel at ease and comfortable during their stay.

Caring experience isn’t limited to hospital work; transferable skills from caring for loved ones or holding an NVQ/QCF Level 2 Diploma in Clinical Healthcare Support are recognized.

If you can answer yes to the following, a role as a Healthcare Assistant may be ideal for you:

Do You Consider Yourself
  • Caring and kind
  • Cheerful and friendly
  • Willing to be hands-on with patients – provide personal care (toileting, washing)
  • Able to follow instructions and procedures
  • A good communicator, including listening skills
  • Good at prioritising and organising

At NLaG, formal qualifications are not required as support for achieving them is provided. We value enthusiasm to learn, a desire to help, and alignment with our values.

Responsibilities include:
  • Maintaining high standards of compassionate, professional, patient-centered care, with attention to privacy and dignity.
  • Assisting patients with personal care, hygiene, and sanitary needs.
  • Meeting patients’ nutritional needs, including non-oral nutritional and fluid intake, and assisting with eating and drinking as needed.
  • Documenting food and fluid intake/output accurately.
  • Supporting skin and pressure area care to prevent ulcers, and helping patients move to prevent discomfort.
  • Supporting safe mobilisation and rehabilitation activities.
  • Using appropriate equipment to reduce injury risk.
