Oxford School of Global and Area Studies, 12 Bevington Road, Oxford OX2 6LH, invites applications for the position of Programme Administrator for the Nissan Institute of Japanese Studies, on a permanent full-time basis. The Oxford School of Global and Area Studies (OSGA) is a leading community of Area Studies scholars, offering research and teaching across Africa, China, Latin America, the Middle East, Japan, Russia and Eastern Europe, South Asia, and Comparative Area Studies. The School provides seven MSc degrees, six MPhil degrees, a DPhil in Area Studies, and the Oxford 1+1 MBA with Saïd Business School.
The successful candidate will oversee the daily administration and delivery of the MSc and MPhil Japanese Studies programs and support broader academic activities within the Nissan Institute. Responsibilities include providing excellent service to students, staff, and visitors; managing student inquiries; facilitating examinations and assessments; ensuring compliance with financial policies; supporting HR-related matters; and assisting with the Research Methods course administration. The role offers hybrid working with at least 50% on-site presence in Oxford city center.
Applicants should have prior experience in academic administration, strong computer literacy, excellent communication skills, and the ability to produce accurate, independent work with minimal supervision. Experience in event administration and committee servicing is desirable.
