We are looking for a highly motivated, proactive, and experienced Conduct and Complaints Officer to join the Office of Conduct and Complaints. This team is part of Student Administration and plays a crucial role in supporting the academic mission of the University, ensuring fairness, integrity, and excellence throughout the student journey. The Office for Conduct and Complaints is responsible for providing administrative and specialist services that support the academic objectives of the University. This includes offering procedural advice, managing complex casework, and overseeing various student procedures, including student misconduct, complaints, academic misconduct (exams), and final appeal processes.

The Role:

The role involves handling complex and specialised inquiries, managing investigative casework, and providing administrative and secretarial support for formal panel hearings and the student cases committee. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, producing defensible documentation, delivering training to colleagues across the University, liaising with both internal and external stakeholders, writing reports, and responding to freedom of information and subject access requests.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced investigator, preferably with experience in Higher Education and handling confidential, sensitive information. You should thrive in a fast-paced environment, have excellent communication skills, be well-organised, proficient with standard software packages, and have strong drafting abilities. The role requires the capacity to make informed decisions. As the office handles sensitive cases, including sexual misconduct, experience in managing challenging situations and communicating with tact and sensitivity is essential.

  • Planning and Organisation Can demonstrate the ability to ensure that the work is carried out effectively and that resources are available to meet demand. Identifies the need for further action and resources by monitoring progress.
  • Initiative and Problem Solving Can demonstrate the ability to investigate problems to identify their cause, takes action to prevent recurrence of problems and considers possible solutions to identify those which offer wider benefits.
