Business Growth Adviser (8093) | Fixed term contract/secondment opportunity to 31 March 2026 | 37 hours per week | £38,626 to £40,476 per annum | (Grade J) | County Hall, Norwich

Norfolk County Council's Growth Hub, hosted within the Economic Development Team, is the go-to resource for Norfolk businesses seeking support to unlock their growth potential.

We are looking for experienced professionals in business management to join our Business Adviser team. Your role will involve providing advice to businesses to foster growth, sustainability, and success.

Can you help us support more SME owners to maximize their business potential?

You will be motivated and experienced in supporting established Norfolk businesses to reach new heights and achieve their growth ambitions.

The Role

As a Business Adviser, you will:

  1. Partner with Norfolk businesses to assess growth potential and identify barriers to progress.
  2. Conduct diagnostics to develop bespoke action plans for business change, growth, and sustainability.
  3. Provide advice and support to businesses through face-to-face and virtual visits.
  4. Develop tailored advice and solutions, offering ongoing support, coaching, and mentoring.
  5. Refer businesses to relevant public and private sector support programs, both local and national.
  6. Collaborate with stakeholders to promote business support services and represent Norfolk County Council at events and networking opportunities.
  7. Maintain accurate client records and ensure timely follow-ups using CRM systems.
  8. Stay informed about the latest business trends and best practices.
About You

You are:

  • An experienced business professional with a background in managing SMEs or significant business functions.
  • Skilled in business planning, including strategy, operations, risk management, and finance.
  • A confident communicator capable of engaging diverse audiences, simplifying technical information, and building relationships.
  • Proficient in IT, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and CRM systems.
  • Knowledgeable about Norfolk’s economic landscape, key partners, stakeholders, and support programs.
  • Willing and able to travel across Norfolk, including areas with limited public transport.
  • Open to undertaking further training to gain SFEDI qualification in Professional Business and Enterprise Support Services.
