Salary: Base salary from £40,750 to £50,950 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Additionally, we offer a flexible benefits fund of 20%, paid on top of the base salary and fully pensionable, along with a range of competitive benefits available on our website.

We are seeking a Project Engineer to work within the HS2 Temporary Works sector, ensuring compliance with BS5975, PAS 8811, and CDM 2015 regulations. The role involves managing risk and ensuring the technical assurance and approval of temporary works throughout all project stages, from design to removal.


About the role:
  1. Provide technical assurance through the production, checking, and submission of evidence for technical stage gates.
  2. Ensure design and construction meet technical, sponsor, and applicable standards through planned reviews and spot-checks.
  3. Support the Head of Engineering and Environment in fulfilling NEC3 Supervisor and Principal Designer roles as per CDM 2015.
  4. Communicate HS2 engineering requirements to contractors and respond to technical queries.
  5. Guide on design solutions, promote best practices, and identify efficiencies within the IPT.
  6. Collaborate with technical specialists to develop cost-effective mitigation strategies and support system integration.
Actively promote and embed Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) in all work activities and support organizational policies on EDI.
About You:

Skills:

  • Complex problem solving: Ability to identify complex issues, review information, and implement solutions, managing multiple workstreams and stakeholder demands.
  • Decision making: Ability to synthesize information, evaluate options, and make sound judgments based on data and analysis.
  • Technical leadership: Provide specialist support and leadership in at least one technical discipline, knowing when to seek further guidance.
  • Technical communication: Effectively communicate technical ideas within your discipline to colleagues.

Knowledge:

  • UK construction regulations, including CDM requirements.
  • Understanding of HS2's regulatory and legislative framework.
  • Commercial awareness related to cost, schedule, and delivering integrated solutions.
  • Chartered Engineer status or equivalent experience.

Experience:

  • Managing standards, engineering, and safety activities on engineering projects.
  • Handling competing project demands with cost and schedule implications.
