About the role:

Your role will be to design, develop, and support the delivery of high-quality industrial control panels and control systems across various projects, mainly in the food and beverage sector. You will see your work drive real improvements for our leading clients in the UK and internationally.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Design industrial control panels, MCCs, and automation hardware according to customer specifications, safety standards (IEC, UL, BS EN), and project requirements.
  • Create detailed hardware schematics, block diagrams, general arrangements, and wiring schedules.
  • Produce accurate hardware documentation, equipment lists, cable schedules, and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Collaborate with project managers, control system engineers, and panel technicians to ensure seamless project delivery.
  • Support procurement and assist with technical queries during assembly, installation, and commissioning phases.
  • Contribute to hardware design reviews, risk assessments, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Engage with clients, suppliers, and colleagues professionally, proactively, and solutions-focused.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven experience in designing industrial control panels, MCCs, or automated hardware assemblies for process or manufacturing industries.
  • Experience with CAD packages and creating electrical schematics with a methodical approach to design, documentation, and version control.
  • Knowledge of industry standards for control panel design (e.g., BS EN 61439, IEC 60204, UL508A) and safe electrical practices.
  • Working knowledge of electrical components such as PLCs, relays, safety devices, VSDs, HMIs, and associated apparatus.
  • Relevant engineering qualification (HNC, HND, Degree) in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Strong communication skills with a collaborative approach to teamworking and customer support.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, capable of managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
  • Experience in the food and beverage industry is beneficial.
  • Customer-facing experience, liaising with suppliers and customers.
  • Proven track record in managing quick turnaround technical projects.
