Job Description

As a Trainee Planning Engineer, you will be responsible for learning how to provide planning support, working with Project Managers to develop and manage schedules that incorporate risk, change, resource requirements, and cost.

Please note: Potential candidates must be able to obtain and retain CTC (Counter Terrorist Check) level security clearance to be considered for this position. (Minimum 3 years residence in UK).

Responsibilities

As a Trainee Planning Engineer, you will learn to carry out the following tasks with support and guidance:

  1. Develop, control, monitor, analyze, and report on schedule-related aspects for designated projects within a portfolio.
  2. Establish and monitor a cost and resource-loaded, logic-linked baseline plan for the project in accordance with EDF processes.
  3. Capture project budgetary costs and resources in the plan to determine the time phasing of expenditure and the total project budget.
  4. Establish robust Work Breakdown Structures and Project Control Structures in terms of project scope.
  5. Maintain and control project baselines in line with company procedures and guidance, challenging schedule and cost variances against the baseline plan.
  6. Lead on Earned Value Management (EVM) methodology and practice within the project.
  7. Facilitate acceptance of and ensure that the project plan encompasses the full project scope, is fit for purpose, and achievable.

Regular interfacing and integration with the project controls team to maintain an aligned financial position with the Project Plan.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Proficiency in MS Office packages such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for report and information preparation.
  • High numeracy and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivated with good interpersonal skills, capable of working in a team environment.
  • Aware of the level of interaction required with the project team to support successful project delivery.
  • HNC/HND or degree qualification.

Desirable

  • Some Primavera (P6) training and experience.
  • Experience or understanding of Earned Value Analysis and Earned Value Management (EVM).

Relevant experience in Project Controls and/or Project Delivery, preferably in a highly regulated environment.
