Location: Huntingdon or Peterborough - Hybrid Working 2-3 days in office weekly

Anglian Water offers a flexible approach with hybrid working. Your base location will be in our Peterborough office, with an expectation of being in the office 2-3 days a week.

Be part of something major - help shape the future of water infrastructure.

At Anglian Water, we're establishing a new Major Projects Team to lead the design, planning, consenting, enabling works, construction, and commissioning of significant infrastructure projects throughout AMP8 and beyond. This team will deliver a portfolio of strategic projects and enhance our delivery capacity by working with new delivery partners, including design consultants and construction contractors, supporting our investment ambitions in AMP8 and AMP9.

The total projected value of these projects is GBP400-500 million, with individual projects ranging from GBP25-100 million. The programme includes:

  • Interception, storage, and treatment of storm water and sewer overflows
  • Coastal discharge improvements
  • Enhanced water abstraction and treatment
  • Upgraded wastewater treatment facilities

While initial focus is on delivering AMP8 projects, this approach will evolve for more complex schemes in AMP9.

Team responsibilities include:
  • Leading planning, procurement, and delivery of this high-impact capital programme
  • Overseeing internal project management teams and external supply chain partners
What’s next?

To meet AMP8 timelines, construction needs to begin by Year 3, with design development, planning, and procurement starting in 2025, and contracts awarded early Year 2.

Delivery strategy

We’re developing a tailored procurement strategy, likely including:

  • Preliminary design and consenting by Anglian Water’s technical teams, followed by NEC Option C Target Price design-and-build tenders
  • Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) models where contractors shape design and consenting prior to agreeing target prices for construction

Strong, collaborative leadership from our teams will be critical to ensure engineering quality, schedule control, cost management, and commercial alignment.

Our culture and values

At Anglian Water, we live our values: Do the Right Thing, Build Trust, and Always Exploring. Safety and wellbeing are central, supported by our Safer Every Day programme. We seek an Engineering Manager who embodies these values and is passionate about delivering ambitious infrastructure with empowered teams and clear accountability.
