An established industry player in children's activity camps is seeking an Early Years Manager for the summer season. Job description

Early Years Manager - Summer - Hayes, Bromley

Hours: 08:00-18:00, Monday - Friday. (Total hours will not exceed 47.5 hours per week)

Salary: £580.24 - £718.65 per week, dependent on age, experience, qualifications, and camp size

Note: Contracts for February Half Term will be issued at 2023 wage levels. From 1st April 2024, wage levels will be updated accordingly.

Reporting To: Camp Manager, Area Manager, and Central Office

Early Years Manager Duties
  1. Support and deliver induction training; oversee setup days before camp starts
  2. Complete paperwork and manage high-risk activities following Barracudas' Activity Codes of Practice
  3. Enforce health and safety regulations to maintain a safe environment
  4. Implement the Early Years Foundation Stage by planning explore and play sessions
  5. Designated Person (DP) for safeguarding, handling child protection issues
  6. Communicate regularly with Area Managers and Central Office
  7. Observe children and participate in high-risk activities alongside staff
  8. Monitor staff understanding of safeguarding procedures
  9. Serve as the main contact for OFSTED inspections
  10. Communicate with parents, handle administrative tasks, and manage staff
  11. Maintain cleanliness of site and baserooms, ensure equipment is packed away
  12. Assess and review staff performance for end-of-season evaluations
  13. Support staff during sessions as needed
Requirements
  • Attend compulsory senior training events
  • Qualifications in Early Years (e.g., CACHE L3, Primary PGCE, BA Primary Education)
  • Experience in a childcare setting
  • Legal eligibility to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS check (through Barracudas or on the Update Service)
  • Satisfactory references
  • Attend and deliver induction training before camp
  • Complete annual online training
  • Coordinate camp pack-up
  • Paediatric First Aid training for at least half of the senior staff, depending on camp size
Additional Responsibilities
  • Follow health and safety procedures diligently
  • Proactively address safety issues
  • Prepare for induction training using relevant manuals
  • Evaluate staff performance at contract end
  • Report child protection concerns appropriately
  • Manage children with additional needs, including medication administration
  • Bring swimwear daily for swimming sessions
  • Perform other duties as required by the role and organizational needs
