Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Data Processing Engineer to join the Aero Innovation team within the Motorsports Aerodynamic Department at General Motors. Your primary responsibility will be to develop complex data pipelines and data-processing systems to enhance our aerodynamics development activities for motorsport and high-performance vehicles. You will design, develop, and optimize solutions to tackle technical challenges, contributing significantly to our competitiveness.

This role offers the opportunity to showcase your talents, apply your skills, drive innovation, and connect racing lessons to production vehicles. You will work cross-functionally with partners and help shape the future of motorsports.

What You’ll Do
  • Architect, design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines for large data volumes.
  • Work with teams to integrate data from various sources (databases, data lakes, APIs, vendors).
  • Ensure data integrity and quality through validation and monitoring.
  • Optimize data workflows for performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with Data Scientists, Product Managers, Engineers, Aerodynamicists, etc.
  • Write clean, maintainable code following best practices.
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for stakeholders.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field.
  • 5+ years in data engineering or related industry experience.
  • Proficiency in Python, C++, Java.
  • Experience with Kafka, Flink, Databricks.
  • Knowledge of distributed systems like SLURM, LSF.
  • Familiarity with SQL and NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.

  • Master’s degree in relevant fields.
  • Experience in motorsports industry.
  • Knowledge of data governance, HPC architecture, Data Acquisition systems, live streaming pipelines, aerodynamic testing.
