Company & Project

An award-winning Main Contractor, at the forefront of modern methods of construction and digital design innovation, is looking to expand its established Design team. The role involves leading a c£20m project and mentoring a team of 3 Design Managers.

The company operates across sectors such as Commercial, Science, Residential, Mixed-Use, Healthcare, Higher Education, and Regeneration. The Senior Design Manager will oversee the design process from early feasibility to on-site coordination.

Responsibilities

1. Lead technical compliance and design management during early feasibility and procurement stages.
2. Monitor on-site design coordination and manage external consultants.
3. Act as the main point of contact between design teams, clients, and on-site delivery teams.
4. Ensure process efficiency, with practical construction knowledge and attention to detail.
5. Mentor a team of 3 Design Managers.

Desirable Experience

• Extensive experience as a Design Manager, Technical Manager, or Design & Build Manager on complex projects over £20m, from planning to completion.
• Minimum 10 years' experience with architectural practices, developers, or main contractors, preferably with main contracting experience.
• Strong knowledge of construction methods, Design & Build contracts, planning legislation, and the Building Safety Act.
• Previous roles include Technical Manager, Senior Design Manager, Design Manager, Senior Design Coordinator, or Design & Build Manager.

Qualifications & Skills

HNC or Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture.
