Your new role

A fantastic opportunity for a dedicated journalist to join our passionate, hardworking team. Reporting to a News Editor, you'll be delivering multiple local news bulletins for Heart and Smooth Radio stations across Wales as well as providing on-air and online content for Global’s national brands like LBC, LBC News, and Classic FM across the UK. You’ll be creative, have a fantastic voice, great writing skills, and experience of producing multiple news bulletins in a busy environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read bulletins with a phenomenal voice, write creatively, and deliver outstanding, relevant, timely, and accurate local news and current affairs content.
  • Ensure stories from Wales are heard on our national news talk brand, LBC, and on our rolling news station, LBC News.
  • Utilize social and multi-media tools to deliver a successful multi-platform news experience.
  • Maintain sound legal judgment and proficiency in Ofcom’s broadcast regulations and guidelines.
  • Develop relationships with key contacts across our region.
  • Be flexible to handle both bulletin reading and reporting shifts as required.

What Success Looks Like

In your first few months, you’ll have:

  • Created and presented news bulletins across Heart, Capital, and Smooth Radio stations.
  • Produced creative and engaging content for LBC and LBC News.
  • Sourced and produced original, exclusive content.
  • Responded professionally to big breaking stories.
  • Developed a full understanding of the different Global brands.
What You’ll Need

The ideal candidate will be proactive and willing to develop and implement innovative solutions, capable of:

  • Working independently and under guidance to provide targeted, agenda-setting news content.
  • Having a commanding on-air presence and confidence reporting live into LBC and LBC News.
  • Producing and presenting multiple news bulletins each hour.
  • Enjoying flexible hours and striving to complete tasks to a high standard.
  • Understanding key issues affecting the local area.
  • Possessing excellent knowledge of media law and the OFCOM Broadcast Code.
