Job overview

We seek a collaborative, enthusiastic clinician with excellent communication skills for our Adult SLT service. The role involves working with adults with aphasia, apraxia, dysarthria, and swallowing disorders, providing clinical leadership in stroke care.

Our SLT team offers high-quality services across Northumberland and North Tyneside, including video-fluoroscopy, FEES, VLE, and cough clinics. We emphasize integrated, team-based patient care.

Main duties
  • Assess, diagnose, and treat a specialized caseload independently, maintaining records.
  • Participate in research within your specialty.
  • Lead stroke services, providing advice, support, and supervision to the SLT team, aligning with service goals.
  • Enhance patient communication and feeding skills through collaboration with staff.

Applicants must have a valid driving license and be able to meet travel requirements.

Qualifications
  • Recognized Speech and Language Therapy Degree or equivalent
  • Health Professions Council – License to Practice
  • Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists membership
  • Postgraduate specialist courses up to Master’s level or equivalent
  • Postgraduate experience
  • Strong auditory discrimination and phonetic transcription skills
Experience and knowledge
  • Specialist experience in the clinical area
  • Training development and delivery experience
  • Supervision and mentoring experience
  • Knowledge of assessment tools and policies
  • Understanding of therapeutic interventions and clinical governance
Other requirements
  • Valid driving license or access to a vehicle for work
