Job summary

An exciting opportunity has risen for an experienced Midwife who is an accessible and responsive leader to cover Maternity leave at UHCW. You will manage and lead a team of Midwives and Maternity Support workers encouraging team working, setting priorities, objectives and goals within their sphere of responsibility.

The ward manager will be faced with many competing demands for attention and will be expected to exercise excellent judgement in dealing with both clinical and managerial challenges.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will have developed excellent communication skills enabling maintenance of high quality service and ensuring timely management and resolution of unexpected events and situations.Undertake bleep-holder and oncall responsibilities for the maternity unit on a regular basis.

A knowledgeable team leader and resource for staff, advising on national, local and Trust policy and procedures/guidelines, ensuring that clinical governance is embedded in practice. Will support staff and users in service and policy development within a defined area/speciality.

Responsible for education and development of staff and service in an identified area through appraisal and business planning cycles.

To participate in clinical incident reporting, investigation and clinical audit.
