Job summary

Look no further! We have a fantastic opportunity for a Finance Technician to join our team here at Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.



About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in supporting the financial operations of the authority, ensuring robust financial management and contributing to the delivery of high-quality public services. There may also be the opportunity for AAT training for the successful candidate.



Key Responsibilities


  • Assist in providing financial support and advice to Heads of Service and Budget Managers.

  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of budgets for the service area.

  • Process and reconcile financial transactions, including journals, accruals, and prepayments.

  • Assist in the year-end closure of accounts and preparation of financial statements.




About You


  • Good communication skills and being comfortable to convey financial information to a range of individuals.

  • The ability to plan and organise in order to complete tasks in a timely manner and ensure deadlines are met.

  • IT skills including Microsoft Excel and Word.
