About this Role

OQ Evaluator/Trainer - Field Safety Technician

Seeking candidates with experience in the pipeline industry to be part of Flare Construction’s pipeline division. This position is responsible for training and evaluation on OQ tasks in a classroom and hands-on settings using Veriforce, NCCER, EWN, MEA, ITS systems. This candidate must be able to work independently and travel when necessary. Assist Hazardous Liquids and Natural Gas business units with qualification and training of personnel performing DOT regulated pipeline covered tasks in compliance with federal and applicable state pipeline safety regulatory requirements, in a cost-effective and efficient manner with minimal impact on business units’ processes or resources.

What You'll Do

Key OQ Evaluator/Trainer Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Regulatory Compliance: Stay up to date with federal regulations, client standards/policies and guidelines set forth by PHSA and other relevant authorities pertaining to pipeline safety and operator qualification.
  2. Record Keeping: Maintain a comprehensive database of evaluations and assessments to track progress and compliance.
  3. Prepare, organize, and submit OQ task documentation.
  4. Self-scheduling of OQ training, evaluations, and expirations of field employees.
  5. Classroom and hands-on instruction.
  6. Adhere to Company’s Compliance process and uphold the Company’s core values.
What You'll Bring

Experience/Specific Knowledge:

  1. Knowledge of and work experience with DOT part 192 and 195.
  2. Strong analytical skills and logical thought processes, with the ability to identify and resolve complex training and employee issues/problems.
  3. Proven communication and presentation skills, oral and written, with ability to communicate with a variety of individuals and personalities at all levels internally and outside the organization, bi-lingual a plus.
  4. Ability to work with a team, take direction from a supervisor(s), focus attention on details, follow work rules and adhere to work schedules.
  5. Strong proficiency level in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint, Teams) is a must.
  6. Ability to organize and prioritize daily work, and maintain confidentiality.
  7. Self-motivated and capable of working with minimal direct supervision.
  8. Ability to successfully perform multiple tasks with strict and sometimes short deadlines.

Qualifications:

  1. Minimum 5 years of relevant experience and/or field knowledge preferred but not limited to: Pipeline installation and maintenance, corrosion maintenance, coating application and maintenance, cathodic protection systems, pressure regulating, location and line marking, excavating and back-filling, welding and atmospheric monitoring, inspection and valve maintenance. Highly proficient in gas operation and station work procedures.
  2. Previous OQ knowledge/experience.
  3. Must be able to work independently while demonstrating strong leadership qualities and integrity to document control, handling, and process criteria.
  4. Ability to organize and administer project Quality Management System.
  5. Minimum of one year of relevant Quality Supervisor field work experience preferred, with work history references who can be contacted during the interview process.
  6. Successful interpersonal communication and meeting management skills.
  7. Travel will be required.
  8. A DOT OQ Evaluator/Trainer should have a strong understanding of the pipeline operations, safety regulations, and industry standards. They should also possess excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with stakeholders, clients, and co-workers to maintain the safety and reliability of the nations pipeline infrastructure.
