Here at Skipton Building Society, we are proud to have a team of amazing people who work hard every day to put our customers' best interests at heart.

We are currently looking for a Branch Manager to lead, motivate, and drive performance. The successful candidate will play an integral role in delivering exceptional service to our customers at our Bournemouth branch.

Who Are We?

Not just another building society. Not just another job.

We are the fourth biggest building society in the UK and what makes us a bit different is that we're a mutual organisation. We do not have shareholders; we are owned by our members.

Our colleagues say Skipton Building Society is a great place to work, and you could be one of them, bringing with you new ideas on how we can keep customers at the heart of what we do.

Whatever your background, and whatever your goals, we will help you take the next step towards a better future.

Our branches are the heart of our local communities; however, increasingly, our customers want the flexibility of doing transactions online and engaging with us via our contact centre. In-branch, we support our customers face-to-face, virtually, and by outbound contact, reaching our customers at relevant times. Whether promoting a new product or resolving a problem, you will always place our customers' needs at the heart of everything you do and provide first-class service every time.

For our customers, you will be more than just the friendly face and voice of Skipton Building Society. You will be a listener, a problem solver, and over time, a fountain of knowledge to help them achieve their financial goals.

Together, you can help us build a better Society!

What You Will Be Doing as a Branch Manager

The Branch Manager will lead a team of customer-facing colleagues, promoting high standards of customer service and ensuring they deliver an exceptional experience to all customers. We are looking for an individual who can inspire a team, engage them, and create a culture of high performance.

Taking ownership of the branch contribution plan, you will focus on commercial growth as well as maintaining relationships with existing customers. You will ensure your team confidently promotes our products and services during their conversations with customers through observations, one-to-ones, and clear objectives linked to the branch plan.

This is a hands-on role that requires exceptional people skills and proven leadership experience. In return, we will provide you with development opportunities to make a real difference to your team and our customers.

The role involves leading from the front and by example, including interacting with customers daily, serving customers, and undertaking 'My Review' appointments.

We are entering an exciting new chapter for our Bournemouth branch with a scheduled full refit in 2025, bringing modern facilities and a renewed commitment to excellent service.

What Do We Need From You?

You will be an accomplished leader with experience in a management role within a customer-facing environment. This will include:

  • A proven record of delivering excellent customer service and outcomes.
  • Effective communication and time management skills.
  • A passion and genuine interest in people, with an understanding and acknowledgment of diversity among customers and colleagues.
  • The ability to take an entrepreneurial approach to maximizing business opportunities.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, as you will work with your Regional Manager and various Head Office functions.

You do not need to be an expert in financial services; while experience helps, we welcome applications from candidates with the right skills and experience to deliver a great customer and colleague experience.

What Is In It For You?

The position is permanent, with a 36-hour workweek across Monday to Saturday to support operating hours.

The salary is up to £45,900 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including:

  • Annual discretionary bonus scheme.
  • 25 days of annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 30 days after 5 years of service.
  • Holiday trading scheme to buy or sell additional leave days.
  • Employer-matched pension contributions up to 10%.
  • Access to a benefits portal, including an Employee Assistance Programme and online discounts.
  • Three paid volunteering days annually for charity involvement.
  • Colleague mortgage and savings accounts, and various discount schemes.
  • Commitment to training and development.
  • Private medical insurance.
  • Salary Sacrifice Scheme for hybrid/electric cars.
