Cloud Data Engineer

Location - London/Cluj/Porto

Flutter consists of two commercial divisions (FanDuel and International) and our central Flutter Functions; COO, Finance & Legal. Here in Flutter Functions, we work with colleagues across all our divisions and regions to deliver the Flutter Edge, our competitive advantage that powers our brands and divisions through Product, Tech, Expertise, and Scale.

In Flutter Finance, we pride ourselves on providing global expertise to ensure Flutter's financial health, utilizing our Flutter Edge to enhance our capabilities.

As part of Flutter's Finance Automation strategy, we seek an individual with strong coding skills and expertise in cloud-based data transfer solutions to join Flutter Group Finance Systems and Technology. Flutter, with its diverse brands including Paddy Power, Betfair, FanDuel, and PokerStars, operates on a global scale, engaging millions of customers. Your primary role will be to champion automation within the CFO function, driving operational excellence, controls, and industry leadership.

This role focuses on using AWS Transfer Family and AWS Lambda to retrieve data from third-party providers via API and SFTP, ensuring seamless integration into Flutter's financial systems. Knowledge of networking, secure connectivity, S3 storage, and Athena querying will be advantageous.

What you'll do
  1. Develop data infrastructure for smooth data flow within Flutter, using AWS Transfer Family and Lambda.
  2. Use Python and AWS services to clean, transform, and standardize data, storing processed data in AWS S3.
  3. Implement error-handling, logging, and alerting mechanisms for automated workflows.
  4. Ensure data consistency and integrity for Flutter's financial systems.
  5. Collaborate with finance, engineering, and security teams to align solutions with business needs.
  6. Document processes, configurations, and automation logic for transparency and continuity.
How you'll do it

Bring proficiency in AWS Transfer Family, Lambda, S3, and Athena, along with strong coding skills in Python and JavaScript. Use data manipulation libraries like Pandas and Lodash for data transformation. Ensure secure network configurations, including VPNs and firewalls, and leverage SQL and AWS Athena for data analysis. Use automation tools like AWS Step Functions and cron jobs to streamline processes. Manage code with Git, troubleshoot workflows, and understand financial concepts and data structures. Communicate effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
