About the role

As the Chef Manager at Charles Clore Court, you will lead and deliver a first-class catering service to the scheme, which includes 47 self-contained apartments for residents aged 55+.

This role involves hands-on preparation and cooking, as well as ownership of compliance, administration, and audits. You will work with a dedicated team of 4 colleagues: a Kitchen Assistant, Restaurant Service Assistant, Weekend Cook/Chef, and Weekend Kitchen Assistant, to deliver excellent service to our residents.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparation, cooking, and serving of meals, meeting company and environmental health standards, and catering to dietary and cultural needs.
  • Completing menu tick sheets, cleaning records, handover sheets, and recording meals sold, along with resident feedback.
  • Issuing resident catering invoices and responding to payment queries.
  • Conducting health, safety, and food hygiene checks as per standards and regulations.
  • Preparing for inspections and audits by external authorities.
  • Leading and supporting a small team, managing duties, recruitment, development, and employment lifecycle.
  • Managing ordering, stock control, deliveries, and maintaining standards set by the Catering Manager.

  • Ideally, you will have a catering/cooking qualification and/or experience working in a care/support environment or cooking for large volumes.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • A passion for leading a team, whether experienced or seeking to advance your career.
  • Comfortable with administrative tasks using basic Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
  • Ability to commute to the scheme in Tilehurst, Berkshire, RG30 3NT.
