Job description

Site Agent - Rail Based

Salary: Up To £55K + Pkg
Location: Devon
Region: South West

We are currently seeking a Site Agent to work for a main Civil Contractor who works across the UK specializing in a variety of civil engineering sectors with a primary focus on rail-based projects. The role will be based in Devon (Exeter Depot), with the candidate expected to travel intermittently to various project sites when required.

The key tasks of this role include, but are not limited to:

  1. Fulfilling the Agent’s responsibilities as laid down in the Company’s Health and Safety Policy.
  2. Ensuring that the contract is executed in accordance with the requirements of:
    1. All applicable legislation
    2. The Terms and Conditions of the Contract
    3. The Contract Health and Safety Plan
    4. The Work Package Plans and Task Briefing Sheets
    5. The Contract Quality / Environmental Plan
    6. The Policies and Procedures contained within the company Business Management System
  3. Delivery of the contract within programme and budget. Liaison with site staff and managing surveyor to ensure tender allowances are not exceeded.
  4. The promotion of a continuous improvement culture and the use of best practices.
  5. The continuous monitoring of contract progress to ensure contract objectives are being met.
  6. Ensuring that in conjunction with the site team, changes to the contract are identified, agreed, and effectively managed.
  7. The provision of formal reports on contract progress to the Contracts Manager.
  8. Ensuring that all relevant issues which cannot be resolved at contract level are passed for the attention of the Contracts Manager.

Candidates for this role must be a team player and should meet the following criteria:

  1. Must have a “Contractors” background and preferably have experience of working for a major contractor.
  2. Both building and civil engineering experience is essential along with experience of design and build projects.
  3. Experience of rail would also be a distinct advantage but is not essential.
  4. IT literate, particularly MS Word and MS Excel.
