IN HOUSE LEGAL COUNSEL - RENEWABLES

5 - 7 YRS PQE - EDINBURGH

This role sits within a busy, pan-European legal team and focuses primarily on providing legal support for our client's UK renewable energy portfolio, while also contributing to broader European initiatives.

The position involves a broad range of responsibilities, including advising on project development, construction, and operation of wind, solar, and battery storage projects. It includes drafting and negotiating a wide variety of contracts—such as EPC, grid connection, O&M, lease, and joint venture agreements—while ensuring compliance with UK energy, environmental, planning, and land-use regulations.

The UK Legal Counsel will support permitting and regulatory processes, engage with external stakeholders, manage legal disputes, and supervise external counsel when needed. The role also includes supporting M&A and financing transactions, contributing to internal policy implementation, and maintaining legal documentation.

The ideal candidate will be a qualified solicitor in England & Wales and/or Scotland with 5–7 years of post-qualification experience, preferably in the renewable energy sector, and strong expertise in UK administrative, REAL ESTATE and or CONSTRUCTION law. Strong contract negotiation skills, the ability to manage complex projects, and experience in a multinational or energy-focused environment are essential.
