About Our Client

Excellent opportunity for a Maintenance Services Manager to join the Estates & Facilities team of a leading university. You will oversee a team of multi-skilled maintenance staff to deliver planned, preventative, and reactive maintenance across their expanding estate.

Job Description

Reporting to the Director of Maintenance, Engineering and Sustainability, the Maintenance Services Manager will lead and manage approximately 55 staff responsible for service delivery of urgent, reactive, and compliance maintenance for the Estate, with a budget of around £5 million.

Roles & Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and management to a team of circa 60 multi-disciplinary maintenance staff and compliance tasks.
  • Manage recruitment, selection, and induction of new staff.
  • Set high standards of performance and behavior, engaging staff in delivering excellent service to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with the Director and Senior Leadership Team to develop operational plans aligned with key priorities.
  • Oversee day-to-day expenditure of approximately £5 million maintenance budget.
  • Work with the Head of Operations to implement and embed the CAFM system.
  • Coordinate work processes related to Reactive, Planned, Preventative, and Compliance Maintenance.
  • Coordinate with the Engineering Team on minor works requests.
  • Champion Health and Safety policies, ensuring culture and compliance, including H&S audits.
The Successful Applicant
  • Degree in Engineering, Building Services, or Facilities Management.
  • Strong knowledge of Mechanical & Electrical Building Services (M&E).
  • Significant experience managing maintenance services across a large estate.
  • Experience leading a team of multi-skilled maintenance staff.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising with stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of Health, Safety & Environmental legislation.
  • NEBOSH certification.
