Job Description: Defect Manager for ET SCADA Programme

We are seeking a Defect Manager to oversee multiple test stages across Functional and Non-Functional Testing (including Network and Infrastructure Testing) for the ET SCADA programme. The key responsibilities include:

  1. Defining, owning, refining, and enforcing the defect management process, ensuring adherence and appropriate defect detail with supporting evidence for root cause analysis.
  2. Leading and hosting triage sessions at various levels, such as infrastructure, network, application, SCRUM teams, or cross-team meetings.
  3. Producing defect metrics and reports to support the wider test reporting regime.
  4. Integrating with Change Configuration and Release Management (CCRM) processes to coordinate releases and supporting the test team with meeting facilitation and reporting.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Lead defect management across various test phases.
  • Ensure the defect management process aligns with industry best practices and programme requirements.
  • Coordinate with build leads, business, development, IT, and third-party vendors to resolve defects within SLAs.
  • Perform quality assurance on defects, ensuring completeness, proper evidence, and correct corrective actions.
  • Manage sensitive information securely, storing evidence appropriately.
  • Create and analyze metrics and dashboards using JIRA, Excel, Power BI, etc.
  • Facilitate root cause analysis sessions with technical and business stakeholders.
  • Coordinate releases of code/config/fixes into environments.
  • Support JIRA access and other tool requests.
  • Arrange and host meetings, produce minutes, and maintain organized SharePoint repositories.

Candidate Profile:

  • 5+ years of experience as a Defect Manager in large, complex transformation programmes.
  • Experience in defining and refining defect management processes.
  • Risk-focused mindset with strong stakeholder management and coordination skills.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies.
  • Proficiency in JIRA, XRAY, and reporting tools like Power BI.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and workshop hosting skills.
  • Knowledge of SCADA, Real-Time Control, and NMS systems, preferably OSI Aspentech / DGM products.
