The importance of your role.

Exceptional patient-centred care is at the heart of everything we do. As a Pharmacy Dispenser, you'll help patients feel good through clear advice and a wide range of dispensing services.

You will work across the healthcare counter and dispensary to meet patients' needs. This role offers a great opportunity to develop your pharmacy career and make a difference in patients' lives.

What you’ll be doing day to day.

Providing health advice through focused conversations with patients, ensuring clear and accurate responses.

Your duties will include:

  1. Tailoring conversations to ensure customers leave informed and confident about their healthcare needs.
  2. Handling technical dispensary tasks such as ordering medicines, labelling, dispensing, endorsing, and collecting prescriptions.
  3. Ensuring compliance with legal and professional standards in Boots.
  4. Engaging with GPs and practice teams to promote services and products.
  5. Maintaining efficient dispensary operations and minimizing dispensing losses.

What you’ll need to have.

Applicants should have an NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services or be working towards it, and have completed the first year of an MPharm course. A Medicines Counter Assistant (NVQ2) qualification or equivalent is required, with support available to complete training within six months if not already obtained.

Opportunities for further development include achieving NVQ Level 3 (QCF) in Pharmacy Services to register with GPHC as a Pharmacy Technician, potentially leading to an Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician role. Salary and benefits will reflect your qualifications and roles as you progress.
