IT Hardware Deployment Technician FTC - 6 months

Location: Cullompton (with UK wide travel)

Job Description: We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented IT Hardware Deployment Technician to support the rollout of new IT hardware across our sites. This role involves building, configuring, and deploying a range of devices, supporting users during migration, and ensuring a smooth transition to upgraded systems. Key Responsibilities:

  • Tech Specialist: Take ownership of building and deploying a variety of IT hardware, including desktops, laptops, mobile phones, tablets, printers, and warehouse scanners-ensuring each device is fully operational and ready for use.
    * Quality-Focused: Follow established build procedures and carry out thorough quality checks to ensure every device meets our standards before deployment.
    * Smooth Migrator: Manage the transition of users from old to new hardware, including the transfer of files and settings, ensuring minimal disruption and a seamless experience.
    * Configuration Professional: Use tools such as Active Directory, Microsoft Intune, and Entra ID to manage user and device configurations effectively.
    * Support Provider:
    Deliver responsive post-deployment support, resolving user queries and ensuring confidence in the new equipment.
    * Asset Administrator:
    Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all hardware issued, returned, or recycled using our asset management system.
    * Sustainability Contributor:
    Refurbish and securely cleanse equipment for reuse or environmentally responsible recycling.
    * Field Technician: Travel to sites across the UK to carry out deployments and support users on location. Mileage, accommodation, and subsistence will be covered.
    * Project Collaborator: Work closely with Project Managers and the PMO team to report progress, highlight risks, and ensure successful delivery of rollout milestones.

Required Experience:

  • IT Support Experience: Proven hands-on experience in desktop support within a Windows environment.
    * Communication Skills: Confident in supporting users of varying technical ability.
    * Attention to Detail:High level of accuracy in builds and documentation.
    * Self-Management: Ability to manage workload and meet project deadlines.
    * Travel Ready: Full UK driving licence, access to a vehicle insured for business use, and willingness to travel.
