Job description

A Snapshot of Your Day

Join our dynamic metallurgical laboratory at Siemens Energy, where your expertise will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and cost-effectiveness of our small gas turbine engine components. You will engage with cross-functional teams, providing vital materials advice and support in surface engineering, particularly in diffusion coatings such as Nickel or Platinum modified Aluminides. Your hands-on experience will guide you in conducting metallurgical investigations, validating components, and advising on non-conforming materials. Imagine being at the forefront of innovation in the aerospace and industrial gas-turbine sectors, where your contributions directly impact the quality and performance of our products.

How You'll Make an Impact
  1. You will provide essential metallurgical support for small gas turbine engine components, ensuring high-quality standards are met.
  2. Collaborate with suppliers, sourcing, quality, and manufacturing teams to address material challenges and optimise processes.
  3. Lead metallurgical investigations and data gathering to advise on the disposition of non-conforming materials.
  4. Review engineering drawings and provide expert advice on material selection and manufacturing processes.
  5. Approve special process data cards and validate components to maintain the highest quality standards.
What You Bring
  • A minimum of a degree or equivalent in a Materials or Metallurgical discipline.
  • At least 5 years of relevant industrial experience, with hands-on proficiency in metallurgical preparation and evaluation.
  • Demonstrable experience in optical and electron imaging techniques.
  • Proven knowledge in surface engineering, particularly in aluminising (Ni and Pt modified aluminides) and thermal spray overlay coatings.
  • Experience in heat treatment processes, especially vacuum furnace operation and control, particularly with respect to nickel-based superalloy heat treatment.
  • Strong IT, project management, and presentation skills, with a commitment to collaboration and quality.
