Groundworks Quantity Surveyor - Devon

Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a strong background in groundworks and a desire to work on significant, high-profile projects? We are a leading Tier 1 main contractor renowned for delivering complex and innovative construction solutions across the UK. We are currently seeking a talented and driven Groundworks Quantity Surveyor to join our successful team in Devon.

The Role:

As a Groundworks Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for all commercial aspects of our substantial groundwork schemes from inception to final account. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing accurate cost estimates and tenders for groundwork packages.
• Managing and administering sub-contractor accounts, including valuations, payments, and final accounts.
• Conducting detailed cost analysis, identifying variations, and implementing effective cost control measures.
• Preparing and submitting interim valuations and final accounts for clients.
• Proactively identifying and managing commercial risks and opportunities.
• Developing and maintaining strong relationships with clients, sub-contractors, and internal teams.
• Providing sound commercial advice and support to project managers and site teams.
• Ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and company procedures.
• Attending site meetings and engaging in collaborative problem-solving.

About You:

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor with a significant focus on groundworks, earthworks, drainage, and foundations.
• Ideally, experience working for a Tier 1 main contractor or a substantial groundwork sub-contractor.
• A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (or equivalent experience).
• Demonstrable experience with various forms of contract (e.g., JCT, NEC).
• Strong commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and client-facing abilities.
• Proficient in relevant software (e.g., MS Office Suite, ideally specific QS software).
• A meticulous eye for detail and a highly organised approach to work.
• Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
• Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel to various sites across Devon as required.
