Job description

We Are Hiring
  • Department: Outpatient Surgery Center North Tower
  • Schedule: Full Time Monday through Friday
  • Hospital: UAB St. Vincent's
  • Location: Birmingham, AL

The ideal candidate would have:

  • BSN or higher
  • 3+ years of experience in surgical services (Preferred)
  • 2+ years of leadership (Required)
  • Experience with leading Direct Reports (Subordinates)
What You Will Do

Manage the daily operations of the assigned area(s).

  • Develop specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization.
  • Assess quality of patient care and coordinate patient care services with patients, staff, physicians, and other departments.
  • Manage staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management. May perform and oversee processes such as scheduling, recruitment, payroll, and student engagement.
  • Monitor departmental budgets, regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations. Maintain systems to assure adequate levels of supplies and necessary equipment.
  • Manage daily surgery schedule maintaining communication with all disciplines involved.
  • Plan and prioritize day-to-day activities of personnel. Adjust staffing to compensate for emergency situations or increase or decrease inpatient census.
What You Will Need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Registered Nurse credentialed from the Alabama Board of Nursing preferred.
  • Surgical Tech credentialed from the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) preferred.
  • Central Service Tech specializing in Sterile Processing credentialed from the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association preferred.

Education:

  • High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience
  • OR Associate's degree/Technical degree with 2 years of experience
  • OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job-specific experience (Required).
