Job description

An exciting opportunity to join our team in LBG’s Energy, Commodities, Utilities and Industrials Credit team as a Senior Credit Officer. You’ll play a leading role in helping us drive revenue growth and maintain an appropriate risk appetite to limit credit losses. As a Senior Credit Officer, you will influence the strategic direction of the team and deliver its core objectives.

You’ll lead a team of Senior Credit Analysts and Credit Officers responsible for the credit management of a portfolio of Industrials and overseeing corporate clients within the portfolio. You will also support your peers across Energy, Commodities, and Utilities. Daily responsibilities include:

  • Leading discussions with originators, relationship managers, and product partners, as well as Senior Sanctioners, to shape credit proposals, set risk appetite, and balance risk and reward.
  • Negotiating and evaluating complex financing proposals to meet client needs while protecting the bank.
  • Sanctioning credit proposals within delegated lending authority.
  • Working in a professional, high-profile environment committed to putting people first, being bold, trusting, and embracing our values.
  • Line managing direct reports and supporting their career development, coaching colleagues across CIB Corporate Credit.
  • Setting and shaping the strategy for your asset class or portfolio and contributing to the overall strategy of CIB Corporate Credit.
  • Coordinating projects with key partners to improve processes and workflows.

What you’ll need:
  • Experience in credit or sector-specific skills.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment and decisiveness.
  • Strong financial and non-financial analytical skills, with critical analysis abilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of documentary terms.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail, numeracy, and accuracy.
  • Experience in team leadership and line management.
  • Effective communication skills across various audiences, including senior sanctioners, with strong written and verbal abilities.
