Job description

The Ladies European Tour headquartered at the Buckinghamshire Golf Club in Denham, Bucks, is currently seeking a full time Tournament Director.

The Tournament Director will be required to plan, organise, prepare and to travel to professional golf tournaments around the world as a Tournament Director and/or referee. This position is responsible for supervising and supporting the competition aspects (inside the ropes) of LET tournaments, including monitoring the competition preparations and providing support and follow-up.

Location: Buckinghamshire Golf Club every Tuesday, working from home, attending tournaments.

Hours: Full time, salaried

Tournament-related responsibilities

·Oversee the running of the tournament and provide the focal point for the promoter in relation to competition issues.

·Coordination of all matters related to the tournament field including field composition.

·All matters related to officiating the tournament.

·Supervision of course set up and pace of play.

·Provide a specific technical input into venue planning and operations for the tournament course and practice facilities.

·Attend such meetings and undertake such liaison as may be necessary as Tournament Director, reporting and taking action as required.

·Provide guidance to the promoter in relation to LET rules, regulations, guidelines etc.

·Organise and conduct orientation and briefing sessions for all Rules officials including guest rules officials, prior to the commencement of the tournament.

·Coordinate all equipment specifications required for the tournament.

·Coordination of all matters related to anti-doping and doping control officers at LET tournaments.

·Liaise regularly with the Director of Operations on matters relating to the preparation of the competition.

Departmental responsibilities

·Liaise regularly with the Director of Operations on matters relating to the development of tournament rules and regulations, and develop competition manuals, guidelines and project plans, and standardise forms.

·Collaborate with the Director of Operations regarding the education and training of the officials including guest officials for the LET tournaments.

·Management of the LET tournament system, including live scoring.

·Management of all performance related data including the Women’s World Golf Rankings, players statistics, points tables etc.

·Management of the results, competition statistics and coordination of the Technical Service Providers for the result/tournament system.

·Recommend appropriate staffing levels for the conduct of LET tournaments.

·Carry out pre and post competition responsibilities.

·Maintain communication throughout each phase of all processes.

·Prepare written reports on areas of responsibilities and suggest rectifications and improvements.

·Liaise with other LET departments to ensure the coordinated delivery of support services.

·Liaising with external promoters / organisations / federations to correctly establish field composition, allocation of prize funds.

·Communication to members relating to all tournament related aspects.

·Any other activity as required by the Director of Operations.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in delivering professional golf tournaments, with expertise in technical rules, officiating, field composition, and venue logistics. Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills are essential, along with the ability to work with promoters, officials, and internal teams. Knowledge of tournament management systems, competition data, and anti-doping procedures is required. Prior experience in a similar role within a governing body or tour is highly desirable.

Skills:

  • Rules of Golf Level 3 (or 4) qualification essential.
  • Certified Bachelor’s degree in golf/sport management or a relevant qualification to a similar level.
  • Previous experience delivering elite-level golf tournaments, of officiating at Tour level golf tournaments and experience in supervision of staff and volunteers.
  • Being a fluent English speaker is essential and the ability to speak other languages is desirable.
  • Excellent administration skills, and attention to detail.
  • The ability to work under pressure and make quick but informed decisions.
  • Strong capability in forward planning, anticipating challenges/finding solutions, and meeting deadlines.
  • Very strong communication skills, with the ability to converse with various levels of event stakeholders and staff.
  • Ability to build strong relationships internally & externally.
  • An understanding of discretion and professionalism.
  • Ability to coordinate with numerous departments to take responsibility for certain activities.
  • Appreciate the importance of teamwork and being personable.

Technical:

  • Office 365 including MS Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint & Outlook to intermediate and/or advanced level is essential.
