Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced, pro-active Paediatric Dietitian to join our department and work within the eating disorders team. This role is suitable for a Band 7 dietitian but can provide support for a fast track Band 6 to 7 for the right candidate.

This role will provide specialist dietetic care for our inpatient and community Eating Disorders Service and will work in collaboration with our partner organisations including the Avon and Wiltshire Mental Health Trust mental health teams.

A good grounding in paediatric dietetics is essential and ideally you will have clinical paediatric experience in eating disorders, however ongoing continuing professional development is integral to the post. Good team working, innovation skills and a drive for high standards of clinical care and knowledge are needed to help with the present and future development of these services.

Main duties of the job

The Specialist Paediatric Dietitian will provide a secondary level clinical dietetic service for individually referred children who require complex diet therapy to manage their eating disorder. They will also provide a comprehensive specialised service, which includes relevant education and or training to all healthcare professionals, carers and other workers involved in the care of these children.

The Specialist Paediatric Dietitian will contribute to all relevant activities involved in this, e.g. ward rounds, community clinics, support groups, training for other healthcare and patient groups, meetings, audit and research. The Specialist Paediatric Dietitian will lead, and work closely to maintain and strengthen links between the acute and local community interface, as well as developing links with tertiary care where necessary. They will represent the dietetic service within the local community and work closely with the CAHMS teams, and all community staff who are in a position to enhance access to dietetic care for children living locally with an eating disorder.

The specialist Paediatric dietitian will provide supervision, leadership and support to Band 6/5 dietitians across eating disorders. The Specialist Paediatric Dietitian also undertakes any other reasonable duties, which may be identified in consultation with the Head of Paediatric Dietetics and the Regional Specialist Dietitian for Community and Eating Disorders.

  • Clinical Supervisory Skills Course (Basic)
  • BDA Advanced Eating Disorders Course
