Job description

Warehouse Nights Manager

Working with a busy and rapidly expanding manufacturer, my client based on the outskirts of Reading is looking to recruit a Night Warehouse Manager on a full-time permanent basis. The role involves working Sunday-Thursday, 40 hours per week, from 22:00 to 07:00.

Please note: Initially, you will work Monday-Thursday from 11am-6pm (returning at 10pm for 30 minutes to allow night trunkers into the yard), and Friday from 9am-6pm. You will then transition to night shift hours in due course.

This is a fast-paced Warehouse Manager position where you will be responsible for organising and managing the safe and efficient receipt, storage, and dispatch of materials, in compliance with company H&S policies. You will manage a small team, lead by example, and be hands-on within the warehouse.

Location: The company is based on the outskirts of Reading (near Bramley), so own transport is essential.

Salary & Benefits

• £39,000 per annum

Key Duties

• Organising and managing the receipt, storage, and dispatch of materials, ensuring compliance with H&S policies
• Optimising warehouse layout and space utilization
• Overseeing stock cycle counting and audits
• Coaching, managing, and developing warehouse staff and team leaders to meet targets and deadlines, including recruitment
• Managing warehouse team and drivers for timely loading and unloading of materials
• Ensuring vehicles, machinery, and equipment are well maintained and fit for purpose
• Managing rotas, supervising, and appraising staff
• Learning and understanding machinery to enable cutting and lifting of materials

Ideal Requirements

• Experience managing teams in logistics or manufacturing environments
• Experience with stock movement, including FLT, goods in/out, and warehouse operations
• General office and administrative skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to multitask and liaise with different departments
• UK Driving Licence
