About the opportunity

As a Trainee Dispenser working within one of our stores, you will be a key member of our pharmacy team, supporting the pharmacist and other healthcare professionals to ensure the safe and efficient delivery of pharmacy and healthcare services.

While completing your Dispenser training (NVQ2), you will build strong relationships with patients by listening and understanding their needs. Your duties will include greeting customers, dispensing prescriptions, ensuring the safe sale of medicines, and providing advice to support patients' health and wellness decisions. Your role makes a difference every day.

This position is based in-store within the UK. Remote applicants will not be considered, and applications from outside the UK will only be considered if relevant UK qualifications and right to work are confirmed and evidenced.

Key responsibilities:

  1. Complete your training for the Pharmacy Advisor NVQ2 programme.
  2. Dispense prescriptions safely, including ordering medicines, labelling, endorsing, and collection of prescriptions.
  3. Collaborate with healthcare professionals in your store to manage and deliver pharmacy services.
  4. Provide care and advice regarding medicines and refer queries to the Pharmacist as needed.
  5. Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure safe and legal dispensing of prescriptions.
  6. Stay updated with new innovations and comply with operational processes.
  7. Support patients in managing their prescriptions and medicines effectively to promote adherence and reduce waste.

Working with evolving technologies, you will have opportunities to work with new systems to improve patient safety and efficiency. Regular training and updates will support your healthcare knowledge and career development, including potential training as a Pharmacy Technician or store leader.

What you’ll need to have:

  1. A desire to learn and complete the Dispenser training programme (NVQ2).
  2. Current and valid UK right to work. Note: this role is not eligible for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker Visa.

It would be great if you also have:

  1. Experience working in community pharmacy.

Our benefits include:

  • Discretionary Christmas Gift Payment
  • Generous staff discount
  • Enhanced maternity/paternity/adoption leave pay and gift card for expecting or adopting parents
  • Flexible benefits scheme
  • Access to free, 24/7 counselling and support through TELUS Health’s Employee Assistance Programme
