The primary roles of the Research Associate will be conducting systematic reviews and supporting Patient & Public Involvement (PPI) activities for the Inequalities Theme within the Cancer Research UK International Alliance for Cancer Early Detection (ACED). The role involves conducting a systematic review of existing frameworks for addressing inequalities in cancer early detection and outcomes. The postholder will survey ACED researchers to capture all ongoing cancer early detection research in low- & middle-income settings. They will work closely with the ACED Inequalities Theme PPI lead, PPI Champion, and PPI group to support engagement of patients and the public in ACED research. Additionally, they will prepare summary reports and manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.
Candidates should hold a PhD (or equivalent) with training in systematic reviews and survey research or have extensive experience in these methods. Experience designing search strategies for systematic reviews, applying them to international journal databases, screening search hits, and conducting narrative syntheses is required. Experience recruiting patients for healthcare research, especially in cancer, and patient & public involvement is highly desirable. The role may require travel to ACED centres in the UK and USA, as well as international cancer conferences.
