Job description

2025 sees MoneyGram Haas F1 Team celebrate its tenth season in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship… we’re just getting started. We don’t follow the status quo, we’re here to challenge the competition, and we want you to join us.

The first American Formula 1 team to compete in the sport since 1986, MoneyGram Haas F1 Team made an immediate impression with a memorable points-scoring debut at the 2016 Australian Grand Prix. Nine years later, the team continues to demonstrate growth and a clear direction with its future objectives – coming off the back of its second-best season to date in Formula 1.

We’re a racing team – not a corporate machine. We have three HQs – Kannapolis in the US, Banbury in the UK, and Maranello in Italy – each powered by passionate, loyal, and hardworking team members. Known within the paddock as the ‘family team,’ at MoneyGram Haas F1 Team you’ll be involved in various areas, gain broader visibility across the business, and see your contributions directly impact our team.

Yes, you’ll learn from us, but we also expect to learn from you!

General Summary:

This position reports to the Head of Strategy or their designee; it is based in Banbury, UK. The role supports strategists in defining, executing, and analyzing race strategies. Primarily factory-based, it includes support for trackside events, including all FIA Formula 1 championship races and some test events.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Promote teamwork and effective communication to foster relationships across all personnel and departments.
  2. Support trackside events, including all FIA Formula 1 Championship races, from the Factory Race Support Room.
  3. Conduct pre-event simulations and reports, provide in-event support, and perform post-race analysis.
  4. Analyze competitors during race weekends and between events, assisting other departments as needed.
  5. Perform numerical and statistical data analysis.
  6. Prepare pre-event, provide factory support during events, and conduct post-event analysis and reporting.
  7. Develop existing tools used in strategy operations and procedures.
  8. Research and implement new analysis methods, software tools, and techniques for future improvements.
  9. Assist with pitstop analysis, analyze data, and provide concise feedback to the pit crew.
  10. Work independently and as part of a team, communicate clearly, and make quick, data-driven decisions under pressure.
  11. Follow all safety regulations at venues.
  12. Perform any additional duties as delegated by the Head of Strategy or their designee.
Education and Work Experience:

A degree in Engineering, Mathematics, or Physics. Experience in data analysis, numerical and statistical methodologies, and their applications. Strong problem-solving, logical thinking, research, and reporting skills are essential. Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience in Formula 1 or high-level motorsport, preferably with strategy experience.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

Technical race strategy experience. Familiarity with data analysis tools like ATLAS. Experience with competition analysis using SBG RaceWatch. Good understanding of vehicle and tyre performance. Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and work well within a team. A positive, proactive attitude and willingness to support colleagues are crucial.

Equipment and Applications:

Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Programming experience in MATLAB, Python, or C# is beneficial. Experience with ATLAS and RaceWatch is desirable.

Work Environment & Physical Demands:

Ability to work in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment, often requiring extensive travel and long hours, including weekends. Physical demands may include lifting up to 50 pounds, bending, squatting, and manual dexterity. The environment involves machinery, race cars, rigs, debris, and hazardous fluids. Compliance with health and safety policies is mandatory.

Core Company Values:
  • Integrity: Uphold the highest standards of integrity.
  • Innovation: Embrace and drive change through innovative solutions.
  • Excellence: Strive for excellence in all aspects.
  • Collaboration: Foster a collaborative environment.
  • Customer Focus: Prioritize customer and partner needs.
  • Sustainability: Commit to sustainable practices and social responsibility.
